The Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats, a
501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in memory of Betty
in 2002. Betty, a breast cancer survivor, was fighting for her life
following a recurrence of her cancer. Not one to take such news passively,
she decided that women with breast cancer need to travel together
in their journey through breast cancer. Rather than a traditional
support group setting, Betty dreamed of an outdoor, adventure-based
weekend where women of all ages and stages of breast cancer could
challenge themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. In collaboration
with Ellen Moran from Eastern Mountain
Sports and
the American Cancer Society,
Adventure Weekend was born in 1995. Now, more than 200 Adventure
Weekend women have found the support and empowerment they need to
face the challenges of living after breast cancer.

Our mission is to continue Betty's dream of support for women
living after breast cancer. Retreat programs are held throughout
New England in outdoor education and retreat centers. The founders
of the Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats are breast cancer
survivors, who also facilitate the BJB Breast Cancer Retreats and
the American Cancer Society's Adventure Weekend.
