The Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats was chosen
as one of the local organizations to receive funds from the 2nd
Annual Seacoast Concert for a Cure. The
festivities began at 12:30 p.m. with the gospel tunes of Rock My
Soul and continued until 8 p.m. with music by Assembly of Dust, DeSol,
Pondering Judd, Bellevue Cadillac and Tom Richter and the Bernouli
Sailors. Hundreds of people participated in the Silent Auction and
Raffle which included tickets to The Colbert Report and a trip for
2 to anywhere Southwest Airlines flies. In addition to the concert,
the event also raised money by auctioning off a guitar, signed by
Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark and Joe Ely on eBay during the week preceding
the concert. All of the organizers, staff, artists, and sound engineers
volunteered skill and time and the Redhook Brewery donated the performance
and celebration space to ensure that almost all the funds raised
will go to the designated charities. This gathering was a wonderful
celebration of hope and living our lives to the fullest after breast
cancer. Thank you Seacoast Concert for a Cure.

A generous donation of an Atlas 740 Snowshoe Kit from Ellen Moran
of Eastern Mountain Sports in Peterborough, NH inspired our first
e-mail Silent Auction. We opened our own t-bay (Tortuga-bay) Silent
Auction on March 14, 2006, challenging our Adventure Women to bid
on the snowshoe package in support of our Tortuga Scholarship Fund.
The bidding closed at mid-night on March 21st with the highest bid
from Linda Ridlon of No. Berwick, ME. Congratulations, Linda, for
your donation and new snowshoe kit.
Thank you, everyone, for joining in the fun and being such good sports
about your e-mail mailboxes getting filled up with our bidding activity!

This woman needs a pair of snowshoes and some snow! Good thing she won

4th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival
September 9, 2006
9:00am - 4:00pm
Stratham Hill Park, Rt 33, Stratham, NH
Under sunny, beautiful skies, our 4th
annual Arts and Crafts Festival was a great celebration in support of
women living after breast cancer. We had a fun-filled day
of musical entertainment by guitarist and songwriter Sammie Hayes
and Jeff Monkman, educational displays by Exeter Hospital, home
baked goodies donated for our bake sale table and a fantastic
variety of arts and crafts donated from our 65 crafters for our
Raffle event. None of this would have been possible without
our fleet of volunteers in blue Tortuga t-shirts who set-up our
space for the crafters, ran the Raffle/bake sale event, directed
the traffic and assisted in numerous ways to make this fundraiser
a huge success. Our thanks to the crafters who supported
our Arts and Crafts Festival with their hand crafted wares and
the Town of Stratham for use of their beautiful park.
