Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats

Providing empowerment, sisterhood, and adventure to women of all ages and stages of Breast Cancer.

At Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats, women living after breast cancer move from surviving to thriving. We use challenge-by-choice activities and expressive/healing arts to create a supportive, inclusive, invigorating environment. Participants gain confidence, make new friends, find healing in the outdoors, and discover their own strengths in the recovery process.

“When I arrived, it was about me
and all my loss and anger.
When I left it was about us.
I came away
feeling stronger.
The women
made me strong.”

2021 Adventure Weekend: Reopens - COVID Style

Greetings BJBBCR Adventure Women and Friends

There is light at the end of the COVID tunnel ....... We are very excited to be able to open our previously cancelled 2021 Adventure Weekend Retreat with the recent CDC and Maine DHHS COVID-19 Guidelines for summer camp programs at Kieve, The Kennedy Learning Center!  Our COVID Guidelines: restricted capacity, social distancing, masking, COVID hygiene and mandatory "fully vaccinated" status of all participants.

We have missed seeing our BJB breast sisters and new adventure women at our 2020 and 2021 Retreats during this COVID pandemic. We invite you to join us on June 4-6th.  ARE YOU READY TO RETREAT at Adventure Weekend 2021?

The premise is simple….a small group of women with breast cancer come together at an outdoor retreat center to share a weekend of “challenge by choice” adventures, group support and the healing powers of being outdoors.  What actually takes place is a metamorphosis that leaves women more self-empowered, confident and hopeful about the future.

We welcome you to Kieve, The Kennedy Learning Center on the shores of beautiful Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro, ME. Come have fun challenging yourself physically and emotionally at the 2021 Adventure Weekend.

Reservations:

  • Register by May 19, 2021
  • Limited to 14 participants (COVID restrictions)

COVID Note:

  • CDC and Maine DHHS guidelines for distancing, masks and "fully vaccinated' participants will be strictly enforced.

To Everything There Is a Season

The Board of Directors of the Betty J Borry Breast Cancer Retreats announce the retirement of Cynthia Cote, Co-founder, Past President and Executive Director effective December 31, 2020. She will remain as Acting Executive Director through February 2021 while the BOD seeks a successor.

Cynthia’s passion for the mission of Betty J Borry Breast Cancer Retreats has shown each of us the ability “to support, empower and enhance the quality of life” for all women attending our retreats. She has brought heart, hope and support to many women. We wish her the best in her retirement.

“It has been an honor and privilege to be involved with Adventure Weekend and the Betty J Borry Breast Cancer Retreats for the past 25 years. This has been a personal and professional culmination of my lifework to create an opportunity for women of all ages and stages of breast cancer to connect with other women who share the same journey, to find understanding, support and empowerment, to challenge themselves physically and emotionally through adventure-based activities/the healing power of nature and to move from surviving to thriving.
The spirit and mission of BJBBCR will live on in “a season and a time to every purpose under heaven”.”
